Thorous Statue - The Undefeated Champion

Thorous’ laughter and generosity were well known in the taverns of Evoran before the fall, the dwarven champion of countless tournaments was liked and revered in equal measure, his thirst for competition had enabled him to hone his considerable combat skills over the years since venturing out from his clan’s ancestral home to seek competition across the great lands of Evoran.

From an early age Thorous had dedicated himself to the arts of combat, mastering multiple disciplines and defeating many skilled and strong members of his own clan and their brethren, to earn the title of Champion of the Dwarves. The elders of the clans judged him worthy to carry the ancient and powerful weaponry that had belonged to the dwarven clans since the ages before the unification of Evoran, this hammer and shield were known to be bestowed with strong magic and could only be wielded by the worthiest of champions, Thorous would be the first in five generations that would receive that honour.

With his reputation built upon his many tournament victories across Evoran, it might be expected that the many local champions that he defeated would have held him in contempt, but that was not the case as Thorous’ great good nature and generosity of spirit had also won him many friends on his travels throughout the lands. More recently those friends had cause to call upon the undefeated champion to help them in the increasingly troubled times, and Thorous never let his friends down. Proving on numerous occasions that his combat skills extended beyond mere tournament duels by swiftly dealing with any threats his friends may face, and demonstrating his immense bravery by completing even the most perilous of tasks, Thorous had shown beyond doubt that he was the champion of champions.

Beneath the great pleasure that Thorous gained from his many victories there was a deep rooted sense that he had yet to face a truly worthy opponent, that all of his admittedly deeply rewarding life so far, had merely been a preparation for some higher purpose. As the darkness began to envelop Evoran, the dwarven champion has become increasingly sure that he will finally be truly tested in the coming times.
