Byrox statue – Barbarian Prince

Prince Byrox could have, by birthright, lived a comfortable life within the court; his father ruled with an even hand and was rewarded with a largely peaceful kingdom, until complacency led to many of the clans breaking the old union. Arxynor had not raised his son to be complacent however, from his early years Byrox had the ancient heroic values of his predecessors instilled into him, he had been instructed by his tutors in the old legends and fully understood that they were indeed true, and that it was the duty of his clan to protect those who could not protect themselves from the dangers and disasters that threatened Evoran and
to guard against the dark forces that lurked beyond the realm of the living and to protect. From his mother he had learnt both strength and compassion, that an act of kindness, no matter how small, had value far greater than any hoard of treasure, to respect the heroes and protectors that had come before and to carry on their legacy.

The prince had decided to strike out on his own when he reached adolescence to see, with his own eyes, the kingdom and the leagues beyond where the feudal lands had broken ties with their former King, these provinces were beset with bands of vicious bandits and cutthroats, wild beasts and horrifying monsters. This principled young man was determined to provide whatever help he could as he went, by now Byrox was extremely accomplished in many forms of combat. The young prince’s weapons of choice were a large battle club combined with an impressive looking buckler, which was seldom used to shield himself, instead more often used as an offensive weapon itself, opening up his opponents to crushing blows from his club which he wielded with incredible strength and skill.

His reputation firmly in place as a champion of the innocent and deliverer of swift justice, Byrox had journeyed far and wide investigating rumours and chasing shadows. His task made all the more difficult by the fact that the common folk, having forgotten the old teachings, could not see these mysterious signs for what they were, the Prince seemed to be the only one able to correctly decipher them as indications that Titaridus was becoming ever more daring and that his nefarious agents were scouting Evoran to test the defences of the living. Many of the dark minions lay slain by Byrox’s hand by the time the dark lord started his invasion, first
swarming out over the lands beyond Arxnor’s kingdom where the souls were more corruptible. As the Prince pushed back to the borders of his father’s domain he knew that he would inevitably need to face the Lord Titaridus himself if Evoran were to be saved
